Essential maintenance to ensure continued compliance with EU legislation after 1 October 2017 will be carried out in the eBTI (electronic Binding Tariff Information) system between 12 noon on Friday 29 September 2017 and 8:30am on Monday 2 October 2017.
During this period you will be unable to submit new applications, check the status of existing applications or view Binding Tariff Information (BTI) decisions already issued.
You will be able to submit new applications again from 8:30am on Monday 2 October 2017.
2. Main effects of the work and system changes
The online application form is being reformatted with some different/additional fields required – see Annex 4 of Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/341 of 17 December 2015 for details.
Box 1 now captures the BTI holder’s details (previously in box 2). This should be the person or company who will be using the BTI. The box has been reformatted and the customs ID provided must be an EORI (Economic Operator Registration and Identification) number. This box is now mandatory.
Place where main accounts for customs purposes are held or accessible
Box 2 is an additional box to provide for an alternative registered address. Old box 2 is no longer required (the applicant becomes the holder of the BTI once it has been issued).
This new box captures the details of the BTI holder’s representative (that is, the company completing the application on behalf of the holder). If this box is completed the BTI will be sent to the customs representative.
